Yoshiaki Honnpo, Chairman of Kazunari Fujisawa Supporters’ Committee
This association is established with the goal of supporting the activities of Mr.Fujisawa and his apprentices.
Mr. Fujisawa became a professional Go player at the age of 16 and has since been active in numerous matches. Recognizing the pressing need to nurture Go players who can excel on the global stage, he established a children's Go class in 2000. His fervent desire was to address the challenge faced by Japanese players, who were struggling to secure victories in international tournaments, and to cultivate a new generation of strong players who could compete worldwide.
For over 20 years, Mr. Fujisawa has dedicated himself to training the next generation of Go players, mentoring over 3,000 children. His unique teaching approach, which focuses on recognizing each child's individuality and nurturing their strengths, has led many students to develop a deep appreciation for Go and refine their skills. Through Go, the children enhance their concentration, creativity, and self-discipline, while also learning valuable interpersonal skills. Many graduates of the program continue to excel in various fields.
This association honors Mr. Fujisawa’s long-standing contributions and shares his strong resolve to cultivate capable Go players who can make an impact globally. We are committed to supporting his activities of advancing the future of Go. Additionally, we aim to explore and activate new possibilities for the Go community by engaging with diverse fields, thereby contributing to the development and promotion of Japan's traditional culture of Go.
